God’s Will

We seem to think Gods will for our life is some mysterious thing we have to drag out of Him, begging Him to reveal to us but in reality we are given an extreme amount of freedom with God.

In the Bible, God gives us principles to help us live the best life possible. These principles help by showing us how to love and get along with people, by giving us wisdom and direction, and even shows us how to defeat our enemy the Devil!

Once we learn these principles and apply them to our life there is very little searching for God’s will, you will automatically walk in it day by day following His principles being free to live without fear.

In Genesis 3 we know how the Devil instigated the taking of the forbidden fruit, but did you know the deception went even further? Looking at Genesis 2:16-17, after the Lord God put man into the garden He commanded him saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;” Gods first command was one of freedom, man was given the freedom to eat of every tree except one. The Devil being sneaky chose to exploit the “you shall not” phrase pointing out the one thing they were not allowed to have. That’s what the Devil does to us, God has given us tremendous freedom to live where we want and how we want, He only asks us to honor Him by living within His life principles. He does not ask to be mean or controlling but so we can have the best out of life.

So many times we live in fear of making a mistake or going down the wrong path, but living in the principles of God will keep you on the right path giving you peace in your decisions.

Back in the garden after they ate the forbidden fruit fear entered into the life of man. In Genesis 3:9-10 God called to the man saying, “Where are you?” Adam said, “I heard the sound of Thee in the garden and was afraid…”

Not living in Gods principles invites fear to reign in your life and you will not receive the fullness of Gods love for you. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.”

God loves us and is not desiring to punish us for not being perfect. It is His perfect love for us that takes away the fear, not us trying to perfect our love for Him. Whenever you truly discover the depth of Gods love for you, it gives you freedom to walk each day without fear of making mistakes knowing God will lead you through His peace.

What about those decisions His principles do not cover? Pray asking Gods council and then make your decision, God will guide you by His peace!

Philippians 4:6-7 says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
