Too Much

Why doesn’t God give me everything I want, like a million dollars? Proverbs 30:8-9 states, “…Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, lest I be full and deny Thee and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or lest I be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.” We all want to strike it rich so we would no longer have money problems, but let’s face it, for most it will not happen.

The wisdom of this proverb shows us if God were to give us too much we would forget about Him and if He gives us too little we would make Him look bad by stealing. Even now when things are good we tend to not ask for help from the Lord, only when the bad thing happens do we cry out. The more you acknowledge Him in what you have the more likely it is He will give you more.

  1. Another good post. As I read more of your posts, I’m appreciating the balance and good sense contained in them. Indeed, much of the Bible encourages these two characteristics in believers, and you do a very nice job highlighting this factor. Keep up the excellent work.

  2. Very good post. This keeps me mindful to always praise God whether I have a little or a lot. It is so easy to forget about him when we are content, but that is not his desire for us. He wants us to commune with him daily. Very excellent and practical post that we call can gain from. Thank you.
