Commit

In this new year you would do good to reaffirm your commitment to Jesus and express your continued love for Him, much like when wedding vows are renewed.

When a commitment is made to your spouse you are affirming that you give up all others for a life with them.

Commitment to Jesus is saying the same thing, “Jesus I give up all things for a life with you.”

When my husband and I were married I quoted part of what Ruth said to Naomi in Ruth 1:16-17 for my vows. “…where you go, I will go, where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.”

We can also make the same statement of commitment to Jesus by saying; Your God shall be my God, Your people my people, where You lodge I will lodge, where You go I will go.

  1. Recommitting to Christ is a great way to begin a new year, with the dogged determination to continue in that commitment throughout the year. It is a great challenge, an all-consuming one, and one worth working out with all of our hearts, minds, and souls. A great reminder; thank you for this excellent devotion.

  2. Total commitment! How amazing and awesome an experience:) To love the Lord with our hearts and heads is the ultimate to me, as I meet and consult with people holding different beliefs. The verse that comes to mind is Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJV) When we’re totally committed to our heavenly Father and living for Him (heart, mind, body and soul), He makes leads, directs and guides us all our days. Thank you for sharing!
    Blessings, Crystal

  3. Amen! I agree with you and have done the same… a re-commitment to God for 2016 with a desire to go deeper and fulfill His divine purpose for us this year. And love the vow that you used. Perfect for a “kingdom” marriage. God bless you and your family!
