Those who have been bullied or abused in their childhood generally have a deep seeded fear of people. It is difficult when reading scriptures like psalms 118:6 which says, “The Lord is for me, I will not fear, what can man do to me?”
When I read this I think, man can do plenty to hurt me! This leaves me with the question, How do we justify the pain man inflicts with the fact that God allows it?
One important fact we must remember is the devil is working through people to cause harm to you.
Although it is difficult to understand why, God does allow it and uses it for reasons we may never know.
We sometimes though get a glimpse of why He allowes such suffering.
In Genesis 37-50, we can see in the life of Joseph his brothers bullied him, threw him in a pit, threatened to kill him, and sold him. But that’s not all! Satan by mans hands also accused him of rape, threw him into prison and caused his friends to forget him. For 23 years Satan inflicted various pains upon him.
All of this abuse might leave one hating God, but Joseph said in Genesis 50:20 “And as for you, you ment evil against me, but God ment it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.”
Have you forgiven God?
Joseph learned that his many abuses was for the bigger goal of helping other people.
When we can find our way to forgive God for allowing our suffering, then we can see ways to use it to help someone else!
Father, I pray that you will help me forgive you for allowing pain and suffering in my life, and I ask you to show me how to use it to help others.
