Kings

An interesting mandate God put into place about any future king of Israel.

“Now it shall come about when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of the Leviticus priests. And it shall be with him and he shall read it all of the days of his life…” Deuteronomy 17:18.

Why?

He says further, “And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.”

The Bible says in Revelation 1:6, Jesus has made us to be kings and priests to our God. Shouldn’t we then be as diligent to preserve His word in our heart?

Father, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your kingdom. Help us to love your word by making it a part of our daily life. In the name of Jesus, amen.
