Willing but not determined.

Jesus, in John 5:2-9, asked a man if he wanted to be made well.

This man has been lying by a place of healing, willing to be healed for 38 years, but not determined enough to act on it.

Once a year the Angel would come and stir the water for healing but he did not add action to his willingness, explaining “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

We all want to have a powerful dynamic faith walk with Jesus, but it takes determination to realize this.

Determination to rid yourself of sin, determination to do all you can to keep yourself holy and determination to know God.

James 2:26, “For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.”

Father, help us to add determination to our willingness to follow You. Help us to desire holiness for You. In the name of Jesus, amen.
