Sometimes we can be so discouraged with the issues of life that we begin to think there is no hope.
The widow in 1 Kings 17:7-6 was at this place, full of desperation, having no hope, with only enough flour and oil to feed one person, thinking she and her family were going to die.
But then at her darkest moment, God stepped in to bring salvation.
God sent Elijah to her and he instructed her to make bread for him with the last of her food.
As she went, he declared the word of the Lord, saying, “For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.”
Each day the widow would use the last of the food for that day, trusting in the word of the Lord, that it would not run dry and she ate for many days.
What a wonderful picture of faith in our lives.
God’s goodness never runs out. Each day we must look to Him to provide whatever we need for that day.
Father, give us the faith of the widow helping us to look to you each day, trusting you to provide. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
