There are many wonderful things said about Mary the mother of Jesus, but what stands out the most to me is her willingness to obey.
In Luke 1:26-38, Mary is visited by the Angel Gabriel telling her of the wonderful news of being mother to the Son of God, and Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word.”
In her day to be found with child before marriage could have had her killed for punishment. And even though Joseph did not do away with her, she still had an unfavorable label attached to her for the rest of her life.
When we say to the Lord, “Here I am your servant, let it be done to me according to your word,” we are saying we will do God’s will no matter what people say or do.
Life lesson: Count the cost before you say yes Lord, so you don’t shrink back in times of persecution.
Father, make me be one who will always say, here I am your servant, no matter the hard time I get from people. In Jesus name, amen.
