Is God’s Voice Rare In Your Life?

“And the word of the Lord was rare in those days, visions were infrequent.” 1 Samuel 3:1. Is the word of the Lord rare in your life?

In the days of Eli, Israel’s next to the last Judge, God did not speak very often, not because He did not want to, but because there was sin blocking the way. A man of God came to Eli explaining to him his sin, in 1 Samuel 2:29, “Why do you kick at My sacrifice and at my offering which I have commanded in My dwelling, and honor your sons above Me, by making yourselves fat with the choicest of every offering of My people Israel?” Eli was lazy, he did not teach his sons the ways of the Lord, and because he allowed them to be priests anyway, they despised the offering of the Lord bringing silence from God. The voice of God did not stop in Eli’s life because of his sons sins but because of his own. He thought more about what his sons thought than the ways of God.

Sometimes we have to make the hard choice to be separated from the sins of others in order to continue to hear the voice of God. Eli’s communication with God would have stayed open if he would have had a zeal for the house of the Lord and had removed them from their position, showing honor to God above his sons.

Father, help us I pray, to have zeal for You, not letting others sins trap us, show us if there is any sin in us keeping you from speaking. In Jesus name, amen.
