How to spot a Counterfeit

Back before people paid for items with their bank cards, I was a cashier at a busy cafeteria. I personally handled hundreds of dollars each day and became so use to the feel and sound of the money that I could tell the difference when any strange money crossed my path.

It is said, the way people are trained to catch counterfeit money is not by looking at or handling the counterfeit, but by handling the authentic.

God used this life lesson to show me, when I became a Christian, that the only way for me not to be deceived is to know the Bible.

In 2 Corinthians 11:3 Paul states, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds may be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.”

Paul worried that just like Eve was deceived, the people could be deceived, from the simple life we have with Christ.

To be deceived from the simplicity of Christ means to be led astray from the Bible basics. Jesus includes everyone, if a five-year-old can’t understand it, then it is too complicated and will lead someone astray from the simplicity of Christ.

I realize that we all lead very busy lives, but the only way to keep yourself from being deceived from the simplicity and purity of Jesus, is to know the Bible inside and out.

Father, thank you for helping us in our walk with Jesus, and help us to find the time to learn the Bible so that we will not be deceived as Eve was. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
