We read in the Bible that God is a loving Father, Psalm 103:13 says, “Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” But not everyone has had the greatest example of a loving father, which can hinder our relationship with God. Much like we are to be an example of Jesus for people to see, fathers are to be the example to us of God as a father, showing love and compassion, fairness and a stern hand.
When we think of God as a father we automatically think of how our earthly fathers reacted in various situations and it is likely a misrepresentation of the true way God will react. This is because Satan works hard in our fathers life to ruin any recollection of God and His goodness. His ultimate goal is separation, the separation of you and God and also of you and your father.
Thankfully God, throughout the Bible, has shown us the true way a father is to act and anytime we are unsure of God’s thoughts on a matter we can look it up and see just what He thinks, helping us to form a true relationship with Him.
Father, thank you for showing us the truth about Yourself all throughout the Bible. Help us to see how much You truly love each one of us as Your child. In the name of Jesus, amen.
