It is said that those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. There are many reasons for the Bibles existence and one of the reasons is for us to have the opportunity to learn what to do and what not to do in life. One of the reasons for the writings about the nation of Israel in the Old Testament is for us to learn from their mistakes. In Romans 10:1-13, the Bible speaks about Israel, after having been freed from Egypt, having every opportunity to walk in the ways of God, but instead craved the ways of the world.
“Now these things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things, as they also craved…Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction…Romans 10:6&11.
God in His great wisdom has had written and preserved the Bible for us, so that we are not doomed to repeat the past.
Father, thank You for Your great foresight in providing Your written word that is able to help us not repeat the past of all human nature. Give each one of us the desire to study and learn, so we might be pleasing to You. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
