Periodically I am required to transport money from one location to another and when I do this, I always place it in the trunk of the car in order to keep temptation far from me. I do this, not because I am tempted to steal from the bag, but because I do not want to give the Devil room in my life, as Bible says, we, are to be aware of the Devils schemes.
In Genesis 2, we can see Adam also took extra precaution in his life. God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but when he told Eve the rule, he added, “Not to touch it.” We know this because Adam was the one given the instructions and he was the one who passed it on to Eve. In Genesis 3:2, Eve replied to the serpent, “You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.” Adam told Eve not to even touch the fruit, trying to keep them both from sinning. Adam placed an extra layer of precaution of not touching the fruit knowing if he touched it, it would put him much closer to eating it.
Even though Adam was not successful in keeping temptation at bay, his idea of added protection should be a standard which we all should take heed. Is there a temptation in your life that can be helped by adding an extra layer of protection?
Father, I pray, help me to add a layer of protection upon the temptations in my life to help me not sin against You. In Jesus name, Amen.
