Do you feel like the last time you heard from God it did not turn out like you thought it would? It may be because you accidently changed the mission.
I say this because of an experience I had while in prayer. God had said to me, “I want you to give to the church.” Now, I already give tithes, so I was being told to give a lump sum as an offering. God’s instructions were very clear, “give to the church,” but I spent the next five days agonizing over where I should designate the money. Should I designate it to the pastor’s retirement or to the building fund? By the end of the five days, I had confused myself into a panic, but then the Holy Spirit gently reminded me to do exactly what God had said, if He had wanted me to designate the money to a certain fund, He would have said that.
I learned a great lesson through this, which is to write down exactly what I hear, so I do not change what He wants me to do into what I think is best.
Deuteronomy 5:32, “So you shall observe to do just as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right or to the left.”
Father, help me to remember to always do exactly what you say and not put my own spin on it. In Jesus name, Amen.
