Put Your Troubles Into Perspective

I love this saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side.” It always helps me, when I’m feeling attacked, to keep me from becoming too angry! Sometimes when we feel wave after wave of trouble, disappointment and frustrations it can help put our walk with Jesus into perspective by looking into another’s life.

Looking into the Apostle Paul’s life we can see he definitely had it worse than we will ever experience in our Christian walk. Through out the New Testament we can read about his life and the things he suffered for Jesus. He was deserted by his friends, beaten with the same 39 stripes as Jesus five times, he was sleepless, hungry and cold, in fear for his life from robbers and his own country and even spent a night and a day floating in the ocean waters! Reading about his life sure puts my little troubles into perspective.

I like what he said in 2Timothy 4:16-18 after some hard times, “At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!”

Father, help us to have this kind of attitude, to be this forgiving and trusting even when it seems everything is going wrong in our life and help us to remember You will always come through to strengthen us. In Jesus name, amen.
