I drove by a pond and noticed a reflection so clear and beautiful that if I had not understood what I was seeing, I would have not known which was real and which was the reflection.
In 2 Corinthians 3:18 the Bible says, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
It is God’s goal for us to change our attitudes and life practices, being transformed into the image of Jesus so much that people cannot tell the difference. You might think; I’m a good person why do I need to change so much?
In Matthew 5:46-48 Jesus says, “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax gathers do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Therefore you are to be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”
Jesus is saying we should stand out more then the ‘good people’ of the world, showing that our God is the true way for living. The way this is accomplished is through the studying of the Bible. When you study the Bible, the powerful word of God is able to show you the things inside yourself that need to be changed. In Hebrews 4:12 the writer explains, the word of God is as sharp as a sword, which is able to divide between your soul and your spirit and also between your thoughts and intentions. This means the word is able to tell you the truth, about you! Once you see the truth about yourself, then change occurs, this change is in the image of Jesus. It is time for us to get into the word daily, allowing the Holy Spirit to show us the truth about ourselves, making us a reflection of Jesus.
Father, I pray you give each one of us a burning desire for You and Your powerful word, so that we cannot go one day without searching it for the truth. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
