Why Did Jesus Pick Judas to be a Disciple?

Why do you think Jesus chose Judas to be a close friend of His knowing that he would betray Him to His death? It is because He gives all people every opportunity to believe in Him.

Ezekiel 18:32 states, “For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, declares the Lord God. Therefore repent and live.”

God takes pleasure in the repentance and life of all people, not the punishment of the wicked. Jesus gave Judas three plus years of hearing the truth, allowing him to make his own choice, but he chose death.

2 Peter 3:8-9 states, “But do not let this one fact escape your notice beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand and a thousand is as one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

You might think Jesus is slow in His second coming but He is not, He is purposefully waiting, giving every opportunity for all people to be saved.

Father, thank you for Your great patience and love for all people in that You wish all to come to eternal life. Help us to be ready to lead others to You. In the name of Jesus, amen
