A few months ago I asked God to bring me to a deeper level of faith with Him. Since then He has shown me a deeper walk in a few areas, one area being my prayer life. While going before the Lord with worry, which seemed to be my daily habit, God brought these words to mind, “Come into His presence with thanksgiving in your heart and give Him praise.” I realized I had been going before Him more with worries than praise. I sat perplexed for a while wondering why He did not want me to bring my worries to Him, after all the Bible says in Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you.”
Then He brought to my remembrance a story Jesus told in Luke 18:1-8. Jesus told about a women who needed legal protection against her opponent. She kept asking the judge but he refused to help her for a long time, then he said to himself “Because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, lest by her continually coming she wear me out.”
Jesus said “Listen to what the unjust judge said; now shall not God bring about justice for His elect, who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith in the Earth?”
Jesus is saying, yes, you can come to Him with all your worries and cares. God loves you so much He will answer quickly, but, if He always gives to you quickly, you will never develop the Christ like qualities of faith, peace and patience. If you remember when you first believed, God answered all your prayers very quickly, He does this so you would know He is real and feel His presence, but there comes a time when you should KNOW He is real and BELIEVE in His presence, because He said He would never leave you.
Jesus is looking for those who are willing to take their faith to the next level. What can we do? Every time you catch yourself going to God with worry, remember, Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Father, thank you for causing all things to work for good in our life, help me to develop faith, peace and patience knowing You hear my cries. In the name of Jesus, amen
